My name is Emma Smigel and I was born and raised in North Liberty, Iowa. I started dancing at the age of two and haven't stopped since! Growing up, I attended my local dance studio where I began dancing competitively at age 12 and attended many regional competitions and conventions until my graduation from high school in 2021. 

I have trained extensively in ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, lyrical and hip hop. I also spent a few years dancing on my high school dance team where I served as Team Captain, winning State titles as a soloist and as a team.  Over my years of dancing, I won many awards and titles, including a scholarship with Celebrity Dance Competition which allowed me to dance and work on their annual cruise for Nationals.  

I followed my passion to pursue a professional dance career after high school in the Fall of 2021 and moved to Brea, CA to attend the Launch program at The Space with Krista Miller.  I was able to participate in several productions while at Launch and had training in acting and auditioning.  I completed the program in May 2022 and since that time I have been living in LA.  

I am currently attending various classes and working with many local choreographers including participating in Cameron Lee’s mentorship program. I have a true love for dance and choreography and also developed a passion for teaching as I began to teach at my home studio 5 years ago.  I currently work as one of their choreographers for solo and group dances and also teach classes and offer private lessons whenever I am back in Iowa. I am excited to join a local studio where I can continue to pursue my love of teaching and choreography.
