Tara Carbone is an actor, singer, dancer, and performing arts educator with a BFA in Musical Theatre from Syracuse University. Originally from Las Vegas, Tara grew up dancing competitively and was a National Dance Champion and Dancer of the Year Finalist at Rainbow Dance Competition. Her professional performing career includes touring nationally with Broadway’s Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, starring Off-Broadway as Angelina Ballerina in Angelina Ballerina Very Merry Holiday Musical, and appearing in the feature film Don’t Say It, now streaming on Amazon Prime. Most recently, she performed in Grease with Altadena Music Theatre.

Now based in Los Angeles, Tara teaches at Sinai Akiba Academy, Brentwood School, Hollywood Schoolhouse, and Sophie Dance. She has taught dancers across the country through Turn It Up Dance Convention and Broadway Connection, as well as at Brooklyn Ballet, and has taught master classes and summer intensives in dance and musical theatre. She has also choreographed competition routines and serves as an adjudicator for In10sity Dance Competition.

Tara is also an award-winning screenwriter, filmmaker, and stand-up comedian. Her award-winning web series Detectin’, which she wrote, directed, produced, and starred in, has earned recognition from WeScreenplay and the Sundance Episodic Lab. She has also performed stand-up at Los Angeles comedy venues including The Improv and Flappers.

Tara is thrilled to continue growing with Sophie Dance and lead her own Petite Performance Team. She loves challenging young dancers to grow in confidence, develop strong stage presence, and learn how to take up space on and off the dance floor.
